In what has to be something of a victory we see that after the police left the site of the Occupy Oakland raid this morning a large crowd of people tweeting came right back in to the space. It is almost shocking the professional police forces have not come to terms with the agility, self organization and coherency that Web 3.0 tools like twitter give modern protests. The only viable policing option, short of a Chinese or Russian like response is negotiation and patience. The Oakland authorities simply gave Occupy Oakland a night of free publicity and the the participants a moral victory for a the cost of a few tents.
