Adobe foretells 'apps near you'

"'Apps near you' is the latest way to harness location awareness, claims Adobe, as it envisages the next phase in relating mobile apps to the user's place and context. CTO Kevin Lynch told the Open Mobile Summit in London that apps would automatically pop up on the handset's screen, triggered by proximity to a certain spot.

"Lynch showed the example of a tablet user automatically receiving a guide when visiting a museum, and seeing it change as the visitor moved between floors. Receiving room service menus in a hotel would be another example."
