London wakes up on Twitter

London tweeting mapped Tuesday at 6 am
These three maps show how tweeting is linked to time and location.  The early morning tweets show an empty London, with what tweeting is happening coming from outside of the center of the city, scattered around the edges.

In the morning commute the streets inside of London come alive with tweets.  The rise inside of London is far more significant than the rise in the more remote areas.

Just before noon we can clearly see the outline of London defined in tweets.  These maps can show how linked to time and space the internet really is, with the creation and consumption of web content taking place in specific places at specific times, and with major hubs like London actually not only becoming silent, but actually becoming black holes at certain times.
